About the bloke behind this

I just wanted to keep my classics on the road.

The story behind MyClassic — and the bloke who built it.

I've always loved classic cars. Not simply driving them, but understanding them, working on them and, occasionally, wondering why on earth something that worked perfectly yesterday has decided not to work today.

Over the years, my garage has become home to an Alfa Romeo Spider, a Triumph Spitfire and a Peugeot 304S. Three very different cars, each with its own character, engineering quirks and ability to test my patience.

And that's really where MyClassic began.

Anyone who's worked on an older car knows the frustrations. Finding parts is one thing. Finding the right parts is quite another. A component that should fit but doesn't. An imported car with a different specification. Wiring diagrams that don't match what's actually under the bonnet. Missing information, decades of modifications, unfamiliar tools and repairs that should take an afternoon but somehow consume a weekend.

I've spent countless hours searching manuals, owners' forums, parts catalogues and specialist websites. Sometimes the answers are there. Often they're scattered across half a dozen places, contradictory or written for a car that's slightly different from yours.

And even when you find the answer, there's another problem: where do you start?

A good mechanic doesn't immediately replace everything that might be wrong. They listen, ask questions, eliminate possibilities and work logically towards the fault. They also know what you've already tried.

That was the missing piece.

When AI began to develop, I started using it to help investigate problems on my own cars. It wasn't always right. Sometimes it made assumptions, suggested the wrong component or overlooked an important detail. But I could also see the potential.

What if we could combine the reasoning power of AI with reliable technical information, the exact specification of your car and a growing record of everything you've learned and repaired?

What if it understood your experience, the tools you own and the work you're comfortable doing? What if it could guide you through a problem one sensible step at a time, rather than overwhelm you with twenty possible answers?

And, importantly, what if it knew when to recommend a specialist?

That's why I built MyClassic.

Not to replace mechanics, owners' clubs or the remarkable knowledge held by classic-car enthusiasts. Quite the opposite. MyClassic is designed to help owners make better use of that expertise, understand their cars, investigate problems, find appropriate parts and make more informed decisions about maintenance and cost.

It's also there for people considering their first classic, helping them understand what they're buying before enthusiasm gets the better of judgement.

I'm not a professional mechanic. I'm an enthusiast who's made mistakes, learned from them and discovered just how rewarding — and occasionally infuriating — classic-car ownership can be.

MyClassic is the resource I wish I'd had when I started.

And its ambition is simple: to help more people enjoy, understand and confidently look after their classics, so these wonderful cars remain on the road for generations to come.

Every classic has a story. Know yours.
