Our purpose

MyClassic exists to help classic-car owners understand their vehicles more deeply, develop their mechanical knowledge and approach maintenance, repairs and restoration with greater confidence.

By combining vehicle-specific information, practical guidance and intelligent research, MyClassic aims to help owners understand how their cars work, investigate faults, evaluate repair options, estimate likely costs and make more informed decisions.

We believe that understanding your classic is an important part of enjoying it.

MyClassic is an educational and decision-support service. It does not replace professional mechanical expertise, appropriate training or independent safety inspection.

Important mechanical safety information

Working on motor vehicles involves inherent risks.

Incorrect maintenance, repairs, adjustments or replacement parts can result in mechanical failure, vehicle damage, fire, serious injury or death.

MyClassic uses artificial intelligence to provide guidance. Although the service aims to deliver accurate and vehicle-specific information, its recommendations may contain errors, omissions, outdated specifications or assumptions.

Classic vehicles may differ significantly from their original factory specifications because of age, modifications, replacement components, previous repairs and differences between production years and markets.

Before undertaking work, users should:

  • Verify that instructions apply to their exact vehicle and fitted components.
  • Check relevant manufacturer documentation and authoritative technical information.
  • Use suitable tools, equipment and protective measures.
  • Assess whether the work is within their knowledge, experience and abilities.
  • Seek professional assistance for unfamiliar, complex or safety-critical procedures.
  • Inspect and verify completed work before returning a vehicle to service.

Never rely solely on MyClassic to determine whether a vehicle is safe to drive.

Your responsibility as a vehicle owner

MyClassic provides information and assistance. It does not physically inspect vehicles, supervise repairs, install components or certify completed work.

The owner or individual undertaking maintenance remains responsible for deciding whether to proceed, selecting suitable parts and tools, carrying out work competently and obtaining appropriate inspections.

A repair recorded as completed within MyClassic does not constitute professional verification or certification of that repair.

Particular care must be taken with safety-critical components, including:

  • Braking systems
  • Steering and suspension
  • Wheels, tyres and wheel fastenings
  • Fuel systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Structural components
  • Engine and drivetrain components where failure could compromise vehicle safety

Where a repair could affect roadworthiness, appropriate independent inspection or professional verification should be obtained before driving.

AI-generated information and technical accuracy

MyClassic is an AI-assisted service. Its responses may draw upon manufacturer information, technical publications, third-party websites and information supplied by the vehicle owner.

MyClassic cannot guarantee that every diagnosis, instruction, measurement, specification or recommendation is correct, complete, current or suitable for a particular vehicle.

The service may not know about every modification, defect, previous repair or hidden condition affecting a vehicle.

Users must independently verify critical information before acting upon it.

Where instructions are unclear, contradictory or potentially unsafe, users should stop and seek appropriate technical confirmation.

MyClassic is designed to support informed decisions, not to replace professional judgment.

Repairs, vehicle damage and mechanical failure

Mechanical work can create risks that may not become apparent immediately.

A vehicle component may fail after maintenance because of incorrect installation, unsuitable parts, pre-existing deterioration, hidden defects or other causes.

MyClassic cannot guarantee the outcome of any repair or the subsequent reliability or safety of a vehicle.

Users remain responsible for the work they undertake and for ensuring that their vehicles are appropriately maintained and safe to operate.

MyClassic does not certify repairs or provide a warranty covering physical maintenance carried out by users or third parties.

Nothing in this section removes liability that MyClassic cannot lawfully exclude or restrict.

Parts, suppliers and costs

MyClassic may help users identify replacement parts, specialist tools, suppliers and potential repair costs.

Any recommendations, prices, compatibility assessments or estimates are provided for research and decision-support purposes.

Part numbers, fitment, quality, availability and final prices should be confirmed independently before purchase or installation.

Where MyClassic receives referral or affiliate compensation from suppliers, relevant commercial relationships will be disclosed.

Technical recommendations should be based on suitability and relevance, not solely on commercial relationships.

Roadworthiness and legal compliance

MyClassic does not conduct MOT tests, issue roadworthiness certificates or provide statutory vehicle inspections.

Information supplied by the service does not establish that a vehicle complies with applicable road-traffic legislation or is safe for public-road use.

Owners and drivers remain responsible for ensuring their vehicles are maintained in a safe and legally compliant condition.

A vehicle should not be driven where there is reason to suspect a dangerous defect or an improperly completed safety-critical repair.

Liability and consumer rights

MyClassic provides digital information and decision-support tools. It does not undertake physical maintenance or independently verify vehicle condition.

MyClassic does not accept responsibility for losses arising solely from users' incorrect workmanship, unsuitable independently selected components, inaccurate information supplied to the service or decisions made contrary to appropriate safety guidance, where those losses are not caused by a breach of MyClassic's legal obligations.

Nothing on this page excludes or restricts liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Nothing on this page limits consumers' statutory rights.

Additional contractual provisions, where applicable, are set out in the Terms of Service.
